Cutter was Cansrel's horse dealer and favorite monster smuggler. Fire's beloved horse Small came from him.

Cutter has a wide and loose mouth. He speaks in a self-satisfied voice.
Personality[]
Fire does not like Cutter. He is unkind to his animals. He would stare at her in a proprietary and disgusting manner. He is cruel. Cutter is condescending and insincere.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Cutter lives in the western Great Grays. He has forged his small kingdom straight out of the wilderness. His land is so thick with boulders that his house seems almost as if it is balanced upon a pile of rubble. There are monster cages everywhere. Once a year he crates his merchandise all over the kingdom in large caravans. He employs some of the kingdom's finest archers to help him capture animals and monsters.
Fire recalls when Cutter delivered Small to her. He insulted her in front of Cansrel. Cansrel made Cutter grovel, apologize, and weep. Then he made Cutter believe he was in agonizing pain from imaginary injuries. Finally, Cansrel began kicking him in the groin until he felt Cutter understood.
Fire[]
When Fire tells Brigan the story of how she got Small, he says that he knows Cutter and that his mare, Big, comes from him.
Cutter arrives in King's City to sell horses. He brings Leck with him. Fire can sense how dangerous Leck is and so she urges Brigan to buy the horse he wants from Cutter and send him and Leck on their way, which Brigan does.
Cutter falls under the control of Leck's Grace. He is used as a tool during Fire's kidnapping. Leck brings Fire to Cutter's holding in the west. Fire is able to remove Leck's power from Cutter, and asks him where Archer is. Cutter tells her that Archer is on the rocks behind the stable. When she gets there, she finds Archer's body. After Fire escapes, Leck kills him.
